Lisa Nelson, MD

Dr. Nelson has been practicing community-based primary care since 2002. She specializes in lifestyle medicine and integrative practices for the prevention and treatment of chronic disease. She leads programs to help clinicians understand the evidence behind yoga and other mindfulness-based practices, including the importance of compassion and self-compassion in our lives and work.

Dr. Nelson graduated from the University of Massachusetts Medical School and completed her residency in Family Medicine at Boston Medical Center. She moved to the Berkshires in 2005 to practice primary care. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr Nelson served as Medical Director of The Nutrition Center from 2011-2018 and Director of Medical Education at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health from 2010-2025. During her time at Kripalu, Dr Nelson taught in the schools of Yoga, Ayurveda, Mindful Outdoor Leadership and Yoga Therapy and led programs on “The Science of Yoga for Health Professionals,” “Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease,” “Integrated Bone Health,” and “The Kripalu Approach to Healthy Eating: Beyond Right and Wrong,” among many others.

Dr Nelson lives in Lenox, MA, with her husband, two children, and her dog, Pax. She loves hiking in forests and fields, reading, biking, working with her patients, and enjoying time with family and friends.

  • Dr Nelson has presented her work at the United States Capitol and Library of Congress, as well as in medical schools and community centers across the US. She is co-author, with Annie B. Kay, of the book Yoga and Diabetes, published by the American Diabetes Association.

Denise Kincaid, DNP FNP-BC CFMP

Denise integrates holistic care, functional medicine, and naturopathic care into her primary care practice. She works closely with patients to provide them with the tools they need to take control of their own health and well-being.

Denise is a Family Nurse Practitioner. She earned her bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and doctorate degree of nursing at Elms College in Chicopee with completion in 2019. She is a board-certified family nurse practitioner. She also obtained her certification in Functional Medicine through the Functional Medicine University.

Denise has worked at Berkshire Medical Center, Fairview Hospital, Berkshire Visiting Nurses, Adlib, Great Barrington Rehab and Nursing Center, Lenox Family Health and East Mountain Medical. She has extensive experience working in home care and primary care.

She is a strong advocate for coordination of care and works closely with specialists, family members, and care team members to help patients achieve optimal health and well-being.

Denise lives with her husband in Richmond, MA, and has resided in the Berkshires for the past forty years. She and her husband run a small farm where they raise turkeys, chickens, ducks, pigs, and goats. In her spare time, she spends time with her three adult children and two grandchildren. She enjoys hiking, reading, yoga, meditation, being outdoors, and cooking.
